Just like cars without mufflers, someday we'll be amazed we tolerated this.

The first version of the car muffler was created by Milton Reeves of the Reeves Pulley Company in the late 1800s. It was invented in response to the exceedingly loud vehicles that disrupted communities, annoyed residents, and frightened horses. Source: Internet

More than 100 years later....

Gas-powered leaf blowers throw fumes, chemicals, dust, and animal waste into the air for all of us to breathe until it rains. And they're loud, disturbing neighbors and causing hearing loss. Did you know that for the best-selling commercial leaf blower, one hour of operation emits smog-forming pollution comparable to driving a 2016 Toyota Camry about 1100 miles, or approximately the distance from Los Angeles to Denver? Source: State of California

Most affected actually are the workers who strap the blowers onto their backs and endure it all day. Doubtless they will need costly health care later in life..

Technology now provides cleaner, quieter, electric alternatives..

It's not the 1900's anymore.

Don't let anyone tell you it's a "first world problem"  Have them read the facts and then see if they're still dismissive of your rights to peace and health.

The Village of Wilmette prohibits the use of gasoline-powered leaf blowers except April 1 to April 30 and October 1 through November 30. (Wilmette Village Code, Ch. 16, Sec. 16-115)

The noise and pollution is an imposition on an increasing number of people as many are staying home with the new normal. You have the right to complain. That's why there is an ordinance and police are actively enforcing it. If you politely call the non-emergency number at 847.256.1200 they will send an officer out to investigate.

Often landscapers will start earlier and end later than ordinance allows. You can make calls regarding that also. or contact village code enforcement here:
