Leaf Blowers
The Village of Wilmette prohibits the use of gasoline-powered leaf blowers except April 1 to April 30 and October 1 through November 30. (Wilmette Village Code, Ch. 16, Sec. 16-115)

This prohibition includes using an electric leaf blower powered by a portable gasoline generator.
This prohibition does not prohibit the use of electric leaf blowers plugged into permanently installed electrical outlets attached to a permanent structure such as a residential single-family or multi-family dwelling.
The only exceptions to this prohibition are:
Use on golf courses, public parks, or other Wilmette Park District property
Use for roof, gutter, and downspout cleaning
Use in paving, repair, or patching of public streets and alleys, or for preparation of private asphalt surfaces prior to seal coating.
During the times that use of gasoline-powered leaf blowers is permitted, use is limited to no more than 30 minutes in any three-hour period on lots of one-half acre (21,780 square feet) or less (which is a typical single-family home).
Residents can aid in helping to curtail the nuisance caused in summer months by leaf blowers - please speak to your landscaping contractor and tell them not to use their leaf blowers during the summer months. View the Bilingual Leaf Blower Handout (PDF) that can be provided to landscapers.
Sec. 16-115. - Landscape equipment noise.
The following activities are prohibited
...(a) Commercial operation of power-operated lawn or landscape maintenance equipment, including without limitation tractors, mowers, tillers, trimmers, vacuums, hedge clippers or leaf blowers, performed by commercial landscapers, lawn service contractors or other similar businesses required to obtain therefore a business license pursuant to Chapter 5 of this code hired by a property owner or occupant to perform such landscape maintenance services on the owner's or occupant's property, other than during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday
